For the third year in a row the community at Action Arenas Wynnum are joining together to support a fellow indoor cricketer in raising awareness and funds for people living with Down Syndrome. What started out in 2012 as two social teams getting together and playing a once off game to support the Down Syndrome Association has now turned into an annual event on the Action Arenas Wynnum calendar, with players of all levels coming together to play in a competition to support this worthy cause.
All egos are left at the door, rivalries are forgotten, and mid-week social players have the thrill of playing alongside current Queensland and Australian indoor cricket players such as Adam McDermott and Rob Fitzgerald; all with a sense of community and in the name of charity. Inspired by the success of 2013, the Down Syndrome Association Queensland dedicated part of the funds raised to purchase cricket equipment so the great game of cricket could be incorporated into education programs and community events. It is fantastic to know that the community at Action Arenas Wynnum are making a difference.
The 2014 DSAQ Charity Fund Raising event will be held at Action Arenas Wynnum on 20 December 2014.
